Jake and Justin met in highschool and as Jake would say... "there wasn't anything special or romantic about it."
We just started hanging out and are like two peas in a pod.
We both love to hunt, fish, split wood and bale hay. We both worked for an auction company and lived right down the road from each other all throughout highschool.
Jake is looking forward to coming home after being stationed in California for the last stretch of his military service for the wedding."
Amy (Poet) Jenkins
Amy is Kacie’s cousin. As the only girl cousins on her mom’s side of the family, they have been very close since the day Kacie was born (at first Kacie was Amy’s real live baby doll – later her closest friend). Kacie looks forward to having Amy and her family travel from Florida to celebrate her marriage to Justin.
Like Kacie and Justin, Gwen and John Judge are high school sweethearts. They moved from downstate to build their home and lives in Bear Lake. They have 2 kids (in addition to Justin they have daughter Kelsey), that have been a huge joy and have made them complete – or so they thought until Justin met Kacie! They now welcome Kacie with open arms and already consider her part of the family.
Kacie lost her dad, Jim Kerner, to cancer in June of 2015. She was his baby girl and he will be greatly missed, but remembered, at her wedding. Kacie’s stepmom, Sharon, has been a close friend and supporter and will be present at the wedding to lend a helping hand and to be sure they play a few Jimmy Buffet songs for Jim.
Kacie’s mom, Debbie, is happy to see her little girl settling down with the guy she fell for in high school. Justin has been around long enough that, along with Kacie’s brothers, Brandon and Tyler, he fits right in with the family. Debbie’s significant other, Russ Ness, has been a great help to Kacie with computer support while attending college (and hosting trips to Canada where he lives). Both Debbie and Russ enjoy planning parties and family get-togethers and are looking forward to helping Kacie plan for her rustic barn wedding
Kacie and Justin are high school sweethearts. Kacie first met Justin when he came to Benzie Central High School to play on the baseball team (actually she didn’t know his real name until later as he was introduced by his nickname – Bones – named for how skinny he was). He transferred to Benzie full time in their eighth year and they got to know each other better when they shared an English Class together. They started dating May 22, 2010 – the date they shared their first kiss while pool-sitting at Kacie’s aunt’s house. They celebrated their high school graduations together and have remained a couple since then. Justin popped the question on July 10th of 2015 and the rest is history
Justin is employed at Elmers in Traverse City, working with road construction and paving most of the year, and snow plowing in the wintertime.
Justin enjoys spending time outdoors as much as possible – fishing the local rivers and lakes. He also can’t imagine not having his truck.
He is also an avid hunter – both local game and traveling out west to North Dakota to hunt birds with his dad. He also enjoys snowmobiling in the winter.
Kacie is keeping pretty busy these days. Having completed her prerequisites over the past couple of years, she is now enrolled in the RN program at Northwestern Michigan College. In addition to her fulltime school schedule, she currently works as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Paul Oliver Memorial Hospital where she enjoys taking care of “her residents”. She is also occasionally staffing the desk at the Peak Fitness Center at Crystal Mountain Resort, and continues to help at Riverside Canoes in the summertime.
Kacie doesn’t have much free time but when she does find a few minutes she enjoys spending time with her “fur babies” – her cat Lexi and her dog Bosco that she rescued from the local animal shelter.
